Friday June 1st
Today I went shopping again. Hopefully my penultimate trip to Tesco. I left Andy to fit our new stern light and lee cloths. We then went to the chandlers to buy a new hand held VHF radio as our old one wasn't charging properly. After testing the new lee cloths we headed into Inverness for a curry overlooking the river.
Saturday June 2 nd
First thing on the list today was to measure the height of our mast above the water line. As there are lots of bridges in Norway, Sweden and Denmark we thought it as well to be sure about this. With a bit of Pythagorus we found the main mast to be 18.7 metres. Andy then went up the mast (I gave up after the first 4 feet) to attach a couple of blocks for our flag halyards.
We did some sightseeing in the afternoon with a trip to the battlefields of Culloden. Here we walked between the lines of the Highlanders and Government armies, where the Highlanders of Bonnie Prince Charles suffered a massive defeat sending Charles Edward Stewart over the sea to Skye and ending the Jacobite rebellion.
Later Andy picked up Alberto and Angeliki, our crew for the next week. Their plane was nice and early so we had time for a bit of supper and a glass of wine before catching up on some sleep.
