Speedwell of Rhu Ship's Log

7 th to 9 th of July 2018 - Ile d'Yeu

Crew : Andy and Helen
Destinations : Port Joinville.
Distance : 33 miles

We made our way down the river and out to sea by 0900. It was very warm and sunny with little wind so we motored most of the way across to the island. We entered the harbour and then into the marina where we were directed to a berth by the very friendly harbour master in his boat. After securing ourselves to the pontoon we then helped a few other British boats come in and tie up. Over the next few days the harbour master juggled the berths to ensure people could leave easily. We only had a couple of boats tie up on us, but they weren't there for long. We had a lovely couple of days exploring the whole island by bike. The beaches on the east side are long and sandy and the west side of the island was rocky with little coves and a big castle. The town of Joinville had plenty of cafes and restaurants and a couple of large supermarkets.
