9 th July
We slipped our berth at 6.45am to get the first of the ebb out of the river. We sailed out of the Crouch under Genoa and Mizzen and then put the main sail up. We were able to sail as far as the Swin Spitway. The winds started to die down and as we crossed the Swin and into the Colne the wind died completely so we motored into Pyfleet Creek. It was quite shallow, but there was only one other boat anchored and it was neaps so we found a place quite far in but before the oyster beds. As we arrived around 13.00, we were able to have a relaxing afternoon and made a plan to sail to Southwold the following day.
