Tuesday 19 th June

We celebrated my birthday by getting up early to lock out with two other boats. We had a trio of beautiful ketches in the lock and we followed them both into Loch Linnhe. We finally lost them as we got toward Oban. We motored because the wind was on our nose and there wasn't a lot of room to tack. We carried on past Lismore and Kerrera to our planned anchorage around the back of Seil Island, a short walk from The Bridge over the Atlantic and Clachan Sound.

SAILING PAST MULL

During the evening the weather improved and many boats had the same idea as us. By bedtime there were 17 boats sharing our anchorage at Puilladobhrain

Wednesday 20 th June

Today was another lovely day. The forecast of easterlies had turned briefly into north westerlies and Andy was concerned about the rocks behind us so as other boats left we moved to a less restricted spot. We then explored the anchorage in our tender and got a seaward glance at the Bridge over the Atlantic which is a very old bridge linking the mainland to Seil Island. We then walked across to the pub to see it from the other direction. Before lunch we walked down the road a little way toward Easdale but it was quite busy and there wasn't a foot path. We were passed by a few coaches, one was Woods of Leicester who take my aunt, Peggy, on her explorations of the UK. We waved heartily, but I don't think she was on the coach. When we got to the pub I was all ready to say hi! to Mr Wood but they hadn't stopped for lunch.

We returned to Speedwell after lunch and apart from me going on a brisk row around the bay, we did little further exercise. A lot of the other boats had left but the anchorage filled up again gradually.

Thursday 21 st June

The weather wasn't quite so good today and a lot of the other boats left us in the rain. Our autohelm part has still not arrived at Ardfern. We are keen to move on but need to pick this up and get to a post office soon. We are also in need of milk. Hence, we will probably stay in this area for a few more days, popping to Ardfern or Craobh Haven to fix our autohelm when the part arrives. In the meantime we thought we should get some exercise!
