Speedwell of Rhu Ship's Log

24 th to 25 th of July 2017 - Ria de Muros

Crew : Andy and Helen
Destinations : Ensenada de Muros.
Distance : 20 miles

We left our anchorage at 1155 and sailed very slowly south. It was a little too slow initially so we did resort to the engine. There had been 4 yachts in total anchored in the bay. Two French boats left first and then we left followed by another British boat. After about an hour they got their cruising chute out so we took some photos of them with Finisterre behind them. We will keep a look out for them. Once we got close to the entrance to the Ria de Muros, we sailed in. We gradually headed up into wind as we passed the headland which increased our apparent wind speed. We had a fantastic sail, tacking up the Ria and then into the bay, where we anchored opposite the town of Muros. A day at anchor saw us taking the tender ashore to walk the narrow streets of the town and shop in the market. This time we tasted razor clams for the first time. Delicious!
