Speedwell of Rhu Ship's Log

25 th of June 2017 - Ste Marine

Crew : Helen and Andy
Destinations : Sainte Marine.
Distance : 5 miles

We left our anchorage around 1030 in order to get the ebb down river. At points we made 9 knots over the ground as the flow in the river was pretty strong. It was a beautiful morning and there was no traffic on the river. There was plenty of space on the visitors pontoon when we arrived at Ste Marine so, by 11.45 we were secure alongside and and able to go ashore to explore. The Bureau de Port was closed so we had a crepe and then walked along the coast to a lovely sandy beach so that I could have a swim, it is still too cold for Andy. Being a Sunday, there was plenty going on in town including a demonstration of sea rescue dogs.

We had a Dutch boat come to raft up on us for the night later that evening. It wasn't a secure pontoon so lots of people wondered along looking in the boats which made us feel a little exposed.
