Friday 29 th June

We started to leave our anchor around the same time that another yacht, Highland Daughter left her mooring buoy. This gave them a good 30 minutes head start so we waved goodbye to them, They were heading north. The wind was good and we sailed out of the Loch and out to sea. We couldn't follow the coast of Skye due to the wind direction being south easterly, so we did the best we could. We made Loch Scresort on the east coast of Rum in 3 tacks and after about 7 hours and an exhilarating sail.

The mist and rain arrived over Rum when we got there, but it felt quite sheltered. Only one other yacht joined us late in the evening when the rain was well established. The forecast was for the wind to veer to southerlies and then northerlies, meaning that our anchorage would be sheltered for a couple of days. Loch Scresort is known for bad swell in easterlies.
