Despite waking up to fog, the weather forecast said it would clear so we stuck to our plans. We wanted to head up the river on the last of the flood so we left as soon the the fog had gone in the marina, at around 1030. We motored because the wind was on our nose. However, we had a speedy trip, with the tide behind us. We passed through a small bank of fog, but there was no traffic on the river apart from a few kayakers and small fishing boats. We anchored close to shore by the Doñana National Park, to the sound of curlews. Bonanza was on the opposite bank. Despite a fair amount of garbage on the bank, there were lots of waders and, just before dusk we saw deer and a wild boar came to feed near the beach.
