Thursday 26 th July

The alarm woke us at 0300 a necessary discomfort to get us through Bardsey Sound into Cardigan Bay. It was dark....very dark and didn't get light again until 0500. This is not like Scotland! Anyway, once we had managed to avoid the mooring buoys and find our way out of the harbour I went down below until it became light again.

We motor sailed until around 0900 when we were safely through our tidal gate and then turned the engine off and sailed the last couple of hours to Abersoch on the Lleyn Peninsular. We were faced by hundreds of dinghys racing around the moorings but managed to find a break and picked up a mooring buoy quite a way from the beach. Occasionally a dinghy came uncomfortably close to us.

Whilst Andy cooked tea, I managed to get myself a starring role on the Patrick Kielty Show. I had to answer 3 random questions. Only one I got right by guessing. The last was the time of high water in Abersoch. Well that took me three goes (It was multiple choice out of three). Anyway, to get through Bardsey Sound it was the Dover tides we needed to know and the time of high water at Abersoch didn't matter to us. Patrick still played my request. The sun came out and by late evening we could see Snowdon and Cadair Idris
